Leaktight At Inchcape Volkswagen Resolve Water Ingress Issues

Rooftop car park decking surfaces can cause significant problems to interiors and contents when leaks occur. The Inchcape Volkswagen dealership in Romford, Essex was experiencing water ingress where the asphalt joints had opened up on the suspended deck over the showroom and offices and called in Deckmaster to specify a watertight solution.

Working with specialist car park decking contractors Car Park Coating (CPC), the Deckmaster team recommended their System R car park decking solution alongside remedial works to solve the immediate leakage issues. System R offers dynamic crack bridging, high levels of abrasion, wear and chemical resistance, and is available in a range of UV-stable colours to match design requirements.

Essential preparation work undertaken

CPC began by preparing the surface, banding over all the joints in the existing asphalt to give additional crack-bridging capabilities, cutting out and replacing areas around rainwater outlets that had been repeatedly patched. They then installed System R across the entire suspended deck, creating a seamless finish. The final coat was lightly sanded to create a safe, non-slip finish and then UVR sealed.

Deckmaster System R has been used extensively on car park decks across the UK for many years. The system has been tested by BRE in accordance with BSEN1504-2: Surface protection products as a flat roof waterproofing system for water ingress protection and physical resistance to outdoor weathering.

Excellent crack bridging properties
