Deckmaster car park decking systems developed by Resdev have been installed at a new multi-million pound multi storey car park now open at the University of Brighton. The scheme uses a clever colour coded car park design with different flooring colours selected for each level. This improves car park design aesthetics. It also makes it easier for users to remember their parking positions and locate their vehicles.
Deckmaster systems have been installed on both external and internal decks. Furthermore on surfaces for cycle storage provision, stairs and landings, all designed around safety and longevity. Won on competitive tender, the work was carried out by specialist contractors Mike Thelwell Flooring Ltd.
System R – tested by BRE to BSEN1504-2
The car park provides 550 spaces over seven floors, with 55 active EV charging spaces. The top deck and all access ramps feature Deckmaster’s flexible System R car park decking solution. This has been tested by BRE in accordance with BSEN1504-2: Surface protection products as a coating for use as ingress protection and physical resistance.
Used extensively in car parks across Europe, Deckmaster System R offers optimum crack bridging properties combined with slip resistant deck waterproofing, and imparts seamless leak protection. High bond strength adhesion, advanced abrasion, chemical and wear resistance make the system ideal for both external and internal car park decks and for access ramps often subject to aggressive trafficking.
Advanced anti-slip properties
The intermediate car park decks feature Deckmaster HFS ID materials. This low maintenance, easy clean finish is applied in one single coat. It provides excellent anti-slip properties with abrasion and chemical resistance. It comes with a 10 year warranty.
For the ground floor of the car park, which includes secure storage for 330 cycles, Deckmaster HFS UVR has been applied directly onto the tarmac surface. This offers additional anti-slip characteristics.
Resin solutions for safe stair nosings
In addition, stair cores and landings have been coated using Deckmaster ID. Safety yellow stair nosings have been created using resin materials with no mechanical fixings.
All Deckmaster products are available in a wide range of standard and bespoke colour options. Available to match individual aesthetic and safety requirements, with the option to colour code parking bays, traffic aisles and pedestrian walkways.
